Don't Hold Back...Shine On

The Future...it’s pretty much one of the biggest things the average teen stresses over. What am I’m going to do with my life?

When we were kids everyone knew what they wanted to be. We believed that we could do anything we set our minds to. As teens we lose that innocence and self esteem. But why can’t we keep that same confidence? Of course there are many factors to that, but one I personally recognize is that we let people in our own society put boundaries on our success.

When you have a true passion for something you push yourself to reach the highest of success. The voice in the back of your head can’t tell you, "It’s too hard!" You are your biggest enemy and only when you stop being afraid to shine will you be the best you that you can be.

A quote written by Marianne Williamson really explains it: “Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?...Your playing small does not serve the world…We are all meant to shine…It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.”

I challenge all who read this to find your passion and don’t hold back, go out in your community and STRIVE.

This was particularly useful for me... I always wanted to be a pastry chef but my father told me not to because its not a well paying job. Ive realized that no matter how much money I make or how many years it takes I can do it and its my dream in life...thanks.

What you said and express in your blog is totally true. As parents we need to listen to our children and teens to help them develop their inner talents.
My son Michael, 13, is an homeschooler since grade 1. I believe homeschooling children and teens is a great way to help them to realise their full potential.
Every each of us is a brilliant star shinning in the sky!

That is one of my favorite quotes! And I can really identify.
When I was in elementary school, I was practically fearless. I used to get up in front of the entire school every year and perform a self-choreographed dance for the talent show. Since then, I find myself suppressing that bold part of myself. Although I'm not really a dancer anymore, I'm trying to the 'inner kid' that is so brave and passionate
