Graduation Speech

I always wanted to be the speaker at my graduation and it was finally my chance to try. On the surface, the process of class speaker seemed simple: you get picked, you read, you’re done.
I was wrong.
The process was difficult. Nearly 20 girls applied to be speaker yet only one would be selected. I needed a well-rounded speech, a speech that would make them laugh, think, and cry. I needed to make it memorable.
After working for days, I had to deliver my speech to the board of teachers who would decide the winner. Here’s the thing about a speech: it’s not only about the words you write down, its how you deliver. This chance to read in front of the board was a make or break moment. I could have ruined everything I'd worked for in less than 10 minutes.
After I read my speech, there was nothing I could do. But soon I got the good news. I was the class speaker!
I was so excited that my hard work paid off, I thought I was finished but the teachers didn’t. They wanted me to make edits because I had controversial topics that could offend some people. I was frustrated because all I could think was, “if they wanted me to edit my speech, why did they pick me?” But after going through more drafts my speech improved. But I’ll let you be the judge of that.

First i wanna start by congratulating you.Speaking in front of a crowd can be nerve racking.Im a musician and i sing in front of alot of people on a daily basis.I remember my first time getting up on stage in front of all of them people. It was scary. So many things were running through my mind.I thought about throwing up,i felt like i was going to pass out.I felt like bolting. But once i started singing it all came to me like it was natural.Sometimes before a show i get nervous still when im inroducing a new song im often wondering and worrying if my audience will like my new song.So i know how u felt about presenting it to the teachers.I once again would like to congratulate you.
Always,
Samii
